Description of Facility and Services

Doblar 1 is a derivation type hydropower plant representing, together with the Doblar 2 HPP, a frontal hydropower system in the HPP chain on the Soča River. It was constructed in 1939, exploiting water from the Podselo storage reservoir. The headrace system consists of an intake structure, a headrace tunnel with a length of 3,567 m, with an inner diameter of 5.6 m, a surge tank, a penstock and an underground powerhouse. A tailrace system consists of a lower surge tank and outlet tunnels. Three vertical Francis turbines, directly connected to synchronous generators, and pertaining HPP equipment were installed. During the refurbishment the entire mechanical and electric equipment of the HPP was entirely renewed. Three new transformers (16.0 MVA, 116 kV/10.5 kV), connected to the refurbished 110 kV switchyard serve for the plant inter-connection with the electric power system. The hydropower plant is fully automated and remotely controlled from the regional control centre in Nova Gorica.
