Project

Cirkovce Substation

Facility name

Cirkovce Substation

Investor / Client

ELES d.o.o.

Location

Cirkovce, Slovenia

Time period

2013-2022

Facility size / capacity

Voltage levels: 400/110 kV

The first international connection with neighboring Hungary via the transmission network has been realized with the new Cirkovce substation and the Cirkovce-Pince transmission line.

Project basis and goals

The built two-system 400 kV transmission line for the connection with Hungary increases the transmission capacity from east to west. In the north-eastern part of Slovenia, the 400 kV switchyard is located in the Maribor substation, but it is already occupied and has no possibility of expansion. That is why a new 400 kV switchyard is being built in RTP Cirkovce, which will also enable upgrading the 220 kV transmission network to a 400 kV voltage level.

Project basis and goals

Project solutions

Adjustments to the planned 400 kV transmission line corridors and to the existing 220 kV and 110 kV transmission lines required that the 400 kV transmission lines exit the station in an eastward direction. For this, a 400 kV switchgear construction system with tube busbars, which are compact, transparent and capable of handling high current loads, is used. The orientation of the 400 kV switchyard is north-south, and the microlocation is moved to the corridors of 400 kV and 220 kV power lines, with a 110 kV connection via cable and a new 110 kV switchyard near the 400 kV switchyard.

The existing 110 kV switchyard is being completely replaced with a new one using Metal Shielded Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology, located between the existing 110 kV switchyard and the upcoming new 400 kV switchyard on the northeast corner. The new 110 kV GIS plant, together with the necessary auxiliary devices, ensures independent and uninterrupted operation of both the 110 kV and 400 kV switchgear.

IBE services

As a designer, IBE participated in the creation of all phases of the project documentation from the very beginning of the project, from the expert basis of the investment documentation, conceptual design, project for obtaining a building permit, all the way to the tender documentation (DZR), which served as the technical basis for the selection of the contractor . The project documentation for the construction implementation (PZI) was the basis for the start of the implementation works, which ended with the prepared as-built project documentation (PID).
