The production and storage facility is intended for the complete process of production, storage and distribution of plastic packaging.
Project basis and goals
The Frapak production and storage facility in the commercial- production zone of Komenda is intended for the needs of an international manufacturer and distributor of plastic packaging made of HDPE, PP and PET materials, such as e.g. bottles, plastic jars, lids and suction cups for the cosmetic, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The building as a whole is designed according to uniform design principles, with a visual emphasis on the northern part of the building, where the main entrance to the building is.
The external areas around the building are partly intended for handling and parking hard surface areas, and partly for green areas.
Project solutions
The building consists of four structurally independent and functionally connected parts with different purposes:
High-bay warehouse
One-story part of the building of steel supporting structure, height 24.5 m, which is intended for storage of raw materials and finished products.
Production hall
The central one-story part of the building of steel supporting structure, which is intended for the production of plastic packaging. In the mezzanine there is a distribution of mechanical, electrical, telecommunication installations and pipes for the distribution of thermoplastic granules to individual production facilities. The production premises are made airtight so that overpressure can be maintained in them, which ensures better cleanliness of the production premises.
Auxiliary technical premises
One-story part of the building of RC supporting structure, which is intended for material preparation and technical premises of the building.
General and service areas of production
Two-story part of the building of RC supporting structure, which is intended for offices and service areas of the building.
Challenges and specifics
In the building heating process, a comprehensive approach is used, which includes the use of waste heat from production processes and shallow geothermal energy from the aquifer.
This type of integration of different energy sources reduces dependence on traditional energy sources and thus contributes to reducing the carbon footprint and at the same time promotes sustainable energy use.
IBE services
IBE prepared a conceptual design, a project for obtaining a building permit, a project for construction implementation and as-built project documentation.
During construction, IBE participated in the role of technical consulting and design supervision.
