General
The Krško Nuclear Power Plant, which began commercial operation in 1983, is the only nuclear power plant in Slovenia. With its 727 MW pressurised water reactor, it contributes 696 MW of electricity to the grid. Operational safety is the first and highest priority, which is undoubtedly crucial for the operation of the plant. The Krško NPP has a significant impact on energy coverage, as it meets a share of the electricity demand in Slovenia and Croatia. Krško NPP ensures stable production of low-carbon electricity for reliable supply to consumers.
IBE services
Calculated upgrades of equipment and processes are constantly needed to achieve impressive operational results.
IBE has been present with its services since the very beginning of NEK's construction. Throughout the years of operation, IBE has produced a range of DMP (design modification package) documentation and TOP (turnaround package) documentation for the client for design modifications to the power plant, and provided support to the contractors during the implementation phase of the design changes, as well as the preparation of FDCR (field design change request) documentation.
In addition to the preparation of the design change documentation, IBE played a leading role as external experts in the preparation of the documentation for the extension of the NPP lifetime from 40 to 60 years, which will allow the Krško NPP to operate until 2063.
An Environmental Impact Assessment was carried out for the lifetime extension and cross-border consultations were held with all 4 neighbouring countries and Germany in the process of approving the lifetime extension.
