RTP Litostroj increases the stability of electricity supply in the Šiška industrial zone.
Project basis and goals
The basic need for stable and high-quality electricity supply in Ljubljana - Šiška area inspired the project to build a new 110/35/20 kV Litostroj substation. Before the construction of the 110/35/20 kV Litostroj substation, the area was supplied by the existing 110/10 kV Šiška substation. An analysis of the increased consumption of electricity by industry in the area of Šiška, and the desire of Elektro Ljubljana Company to carry out a long-term gradual transition of the Ljubljana's consumers from the 10 kV to the 20 kV voltage level, showed the necessity of a new 110/35/20 kV Litostroj substation construction.
Solutions development
The solution for placing the RTP 110/35/20 kV Litostroj in the premises was sought among the following options:
• external 110 kV switchyard,
• external 110 kV switchyard in GIS version and
• internal 110 kV switchyard in GIS design.
Considering our detailed analysis, the investor decided to implement the Litostroj 110/35/20 kV substation according to the last variant.
The Litostroj substation is connected to the 110 kV network with a cable connection to the Šiška substation and a two-system transmission line to the Kleče substation.
For the distribution area of Ljubljana - city, the Litostroj substation was the first substation that was completely built for the 20 kV voltage level. The 35 kV voltage is intended for the foundry part of production in Litostroj.
Challenges and specifics
The main challenge in the design phase of the project for construction implementation was the client's decision to additionally place photovoltaic modules on the facade of the building. Taking into account that the facade had already been defined in terms of design, we managed to preserve the original façade appearance with the additional placement of photovoltaic modules.
The implementation of the project in 2008 represented one of the pioneering examples of the use of this type of facade solar power plants in Slovenia, which we are still proud of
IBE services
IBE produced conceptual solutions, a conceptual design, a project for obtaining a building permit, documentation for a tender and a project for construction implementation.
During construction, IBE participated in the role of technical consulting and design supervision.
